The North Cypress Medical Center will be offering FREE Vein Screenings on Saturday, August 21st from 9am to 1pm in the North Cypress Vein Center. During the screening, attendees will briefly consult with a radiologist and a preliminary ultrasound will be performed. The consultation and ultrasound will determine if venous reflux, the condition that causes varicose veins is present, and if treatment is warranted. Following the consultation, the attendees will be informed if they are a candidate for the VNUS Closure procedure. This minimally invasive and virtually painless procedure can alleviate symptoms caused by varicose veins and can have patients back on their feet within a day of the procedure.

Over 25 million people in the United States suffer from varicose veins, or venous reflux disease. Varicose veins are most often swollen, gnarled veins that most frequently occur in the legs, ankles and feet. Unlike spider veins, these varicose veins are produced by a condition known as venous reflux, in which blood circulating through the lower limbs does not properly return to the heart but instead pools up in the distended veins. Traditionally, patients diagnosed with symptomatic venous reflux would undergo a painful vein stripping surgery. Now, with the VNUS Closure procedure and the North Cypress Vein Center, patients can get back to their regular routines within a day and without the pain.

North Cypress Vein Center is within the North Cypress Women’s Center located on the 2nd floor of the North Cypress Professional Bldg 1 at 21216 Northwest Freeway. Attendees do not need to schedule an appointment to attend this screening.
