The ASMBS Designates North Cypress Bariatric Surgery & Weight Loss Program as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.

The Bariatric Surgery & Weight Loss Program at North Cypress Medical Center announced today that it has been named an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. This designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.

To earn this honor North Cypress Bariatric Surgery & Weight Loss Program underwent a series of inspections and evaluation, during which all aspects of the program’s surgical performances were closely examined and data on health outcomes were collected. The program’s positive surgical performances and low complication rates met the stringent demands set forth for recognition, resulting in the designation as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence.

“Due to the increasing prevalence of morbid obesity, we recognize the need to implement a systematic approach to improving quality,” said Wanda Crider, Director of North Cypress Bariatric Surgery & Weight Loss Program. “We are incredibly proud to be distinguished as a Bariatric Center of Excellence.”

North Cypress Bariatric Surgery & Weight Loss Program currently performs three major bariatric surgeries: Adjustable Gastric Banding, Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Bypass Surgery. From informational sessions to post-surgical support, the North Cypress comprehensive program includes a patient-centered, custom approach to weight loss therapy. While complications are possible in any surgery, the rate of complications from surgery performed at an ASMBS bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence are extremely low- less than one percent.

Obesity is quickly becoming one of the nation’s leading health problems. Approximately 127 million people in the U.S. are overweight, 60 million obese and 9 million morbidly obese. “Morbid” obesity significantly increases the risk of obesity-related health conditions or disease that can result in disability or even death. Weight loss surgery can cure many of the medical conditions that come with morbid obesity. Invest in your health today and lose the weight.
